Bhagirathi River Expedition

   An expedition for the adventure seeker down an exciting and vibrant river, one of the main tributaries of the Ganga river. We drive past the dam at Tehri to reach a difficult put-in. The pleasure of traveling down a remote part of this river make it a very exciting trip, besides the whitewater which will leave you wanting more. Rafting 4-5 hours each day, we set up camp on secluded beaches on our way down river, passing the town of Devprayag where the Bhagirathi meets the Alaknanda river to form the Ganga river. We cover 138 km's till Rishikesh, through several rapids (mostly Grades 3 and 4) on the Bhagirathi till its confluence with the Alaknanda at Devprayag to form the Ganga. A must -do if you are looking for a great river run in Asia.

Itinerary

Day 01 : Morning drive to Rishikesh.  Arrive Rishikesh & Transfer to Ganga Nature Camp Rishikesh. which is located on a large sandy beach on the banks of the Ganga river . Short rafting trip from camp down.  After dark camp fire and dinner followed by briefing about the Expedition.     

Day 02 :  RISHIKESH / Tehri : An early start to drive 4 hours to reach the raft put in point below the Tehri dam tunnel. Begin with negotiating a series of Grade 3+rapids, in the first gorge section. The valley broadens and after a river lunch, camp is made after covering 30 river km's near Naggar village. Take a short hike, campfire dinner and overnight.                                                                                                            
Day 03 :  Continue down river negotiating more Grade III+ rapids. A short lunch break, back on the river as it enters its second gorge section with continuous Grade III & IV rapids including a small waterfall towards the end of the gorge. Campfire dinner and overnight Camp.
                                                                                                   
Day 04 :  Raft down to Devprayag, the confluence of the Alaknanda & Bhagirathi rivers. The river is now called the Ganga. Camp at Beas Ghat, a famous fishing spot for the mahseer, also called the Ganga Gold. Cover 30 kms for the day.                                                                                                                                                  

Day 05 :  A long action packed day with  body surfing, relaxing and spotting wildlife & running a couple of Grade IV rapids, "Daniel's Dip" and "The Wall".  Reach Shivpuri ad transfer to one of the best camp in the area, High Bank Himalayan Retreat. Camp fire and Bbq and farewell dinner.

Day 06. Morning try a hand on rappelling. After breakfast raft down from shivpuri to Risheksh. Today we hit some of the best rapids on the river e.g  return to sender, roller coaster, club house. We also try cliff jump today.  Arrive Rishkesh & Tour terminates.  One can take the evening shatabdi from Haridwar at 06:10 PM.

The Fixed Departure trips are inclusive of:

Twin sharing accommodation in camp, al meals, rafting with world class equipment & professional river guides, safety kayaks & transportation from camp to Rudraprayag.

 The above Cost is :

1.  Subject to Government service taxes which is 4.9 %   at present.

3. Valid for the Trekking/ Rafting  season for 2007 from Feb to  December

* Minimum Group Size for the expedition trip is 6 persons.
